Bartholomew County Council President Ryan Lauer announced that he will run for Indiana State Representative of District 59 in the upcoming Republican primary election. Lauer traveled to the Statehouse on Monday to file the necessary paperwork.
Lauer spoke about his time on the Bartholomew County Council. "It has been a great honor to serve the people of Bartholomew County, and I look forward to completing the remainder of my term on the County Council this year, working for you. After serious consideration and much encouragement from family, friends, and constituents, I believe Republicans deserve to have a choice in this upcoming election as to who should represent us at the Statehouse. On May 6th, and with your permission, my hope is to continue serving you as the Republican candidate for State Representative in Indiana's 59th district."
Lauer said he is looking forward to a "positive and spirited" campaign. He adds that his campaign will focus on his core principles of quality education for all, limited government, and fiscal conservatism.
"If elected, I will bring new strength of leadership to the Capitol, asking tough questions of your government and listening to the concerns of the people in our community. I will be sure you have a strong voice in Indianapolis, and I will serve you earnestly, honestly and with integrity," said Lauer.
District 59 includes most of Bartholomew County, including Columbus. The district is currently represented by Republican Milo Smith. For more on this story, visit our website.
