Tuesday marked the sixth day of school missed for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation this school year due to the weather.
BCSC Superintendent Dr. John Quick says the corporation makes it a priority to make up every day missed. He says that likely won't change this year. The State Superintendent's Office offered a waiver to all school districts so they would not make up two days missed on Jan. 6 and 7. Quick says BCSC takes pride in going to school everyday and that he would not consider accepting the waiver unless they missed 10 days or more.
Quick says that BCSC students will make up five days during the week after Spring Break that students were originally scheduled to have off. He stresses that there has never been two weeks of spring break. Quick says the BCSC calendar has contained nine make-up days. The sixth make-up day is Good Friday.
Should there be additional days off, Quick says there are three days between the scheduled end of the school year and graduation day that could be utilized as make-up days. Should there be 10 or more days off due to the weather, Quick says the school corporation would consider accepting a waiver.
