Johnson County authorities arrested a Franklin man on a charge of attempted rape.
Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says that just before 4 a.m. Sunday, a naked woman showed up at the front door of a home on Greensburg Road in Franklin. The alleged victim told police that she was leaving a Franklin bar when a man she did not know got in the passenger seat of her vehicle. The man convinced the woman to give him a ride. After taking the man to a couple of area motels under the auspices of looking for his friends, the man asked her to drop him off at what he said was his home on Greensburg Road.
After stopping in front of the home, the man allegedly went to hug the woman. The woman then alleges that the man tried to unfasten her seatbelt and take the key out of the ignition. During the struggle, the man allegedly dragged her to a building behind the house where he attempted to rape her.
The alleged victim told police that she fought her attacker off for about an hour and that he was unable to penetrate her. During this time, the suspect allegedly removed the woman's shirt and had her pants around her ankles. The woman then told investigators that the man went to get her a drink shortly after he had his hands around her neck.
In that moment, the woman said she ran for a nearby house. With her pants slowing her down, she told police that she kicked them off and kept running. That is when she made it to the home and had the occupant call 911. The woman was then transported to an area hospital.
Franklin Police tracked down leads and found the suspect, 30-year-old Ralph Tyrone Davis, inside the Comfort Inn in Franklin. Authorities say he was washing up when they found him. Davis was taken to Johnson County Jail and interviewed. Shortly after the interview, he was arrested on a preliminary charge of attempted rape.
The investigation is ongoing.
