Indiana Department of Transportation officials say they will not build a new roundabout at Southern Crossing and U.S. 31 in Bartholomew County, if nearby residents don't want one.
Tony McClellan, deputy INDOT commissioner for the Seymour District made that statement during a second informational meeting on the proposed project Thursday night at Clifty Creek Elementary School.
The meeting was well attended. Most residents who spoke during the public comment phase of the meeting said they were opposed to the project or wanted more information to make up their minds. Some also questioned whether the project already seemed to be a "done deal."
McClellan said the feedback received was exactly why the department was holding the public hearing.
