Suspicious Object Closes Road in Johnson County

Nineveh Road in Johnson County road was closed for about three hours Friday afternoon after a suspicious object was discovered near the intersection with County Road 80 South.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said that a deputy responded to the area shortly after 1 p.m. after a concerned citizen reported the item. Deputy Charles Murphy noticed an elongated metal cylinder approximately 3 feet long with rubber and plastic hose running out the top of it. The Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Team was then called in.

The EOD Team arrived with the Franklin Police Department shortly thereafter. They were able to determine that the suspicious object was an anhydrous ammonia tank. The tank was removed and the road reopened shortly before 4 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
