The State Road 9 pavement preservation project from Columbus to the Shelby County line begins Friday.
Harry Maginity, spokesman for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), says the work includes extensive asphalt patching. He added that pavement repair operations are expected to continue through much of the month of April. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic around moving work sites.
Dave O'Mara, Inc. won the project with a bid of $657,948. The company plans to complete pavement repairs and construct ADA-compliant curb ramps at Hope before milling and resurfacing the 8.5 mile section of State Road 9 with a thin asphalt overlay. The contract completion date is June 13.
