A Seymour man died Friday afternoon from a heart attack after working outside.
Investigators with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department say 42-year-old Douglas Roberson collapsed while cutting firewood at an address northwest of Spraytown. Deputy Adam Nicholson was the first responder on the scene. He administered CPR and continued it until medics arrived. Roberson was taken to Schneck Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
With the weather improving, health professionals say those engaging in outside activities should pace themselves and avoid overexertion, especially if you lead a more sedentary lifestyle. Authorities also recommend that if you are going to do work outside in a secluded area, you should take someone with you, or at least be checked on periodically.
