Police investigate attempted child abduction in Hope

Police in Hope are looking for the driver of a vehicle involved in an attempted child abduction Wednesday morning.

Hope Interim Town Marshall Matt Tallent says that a seventh grader was at the corner of Seminary and Maple Streets when a black SUV with tinted windows pulled up next to the boy. The driver allegedly rolled his windows down very slightly and told the child to "get the f*** in the car." When the boy refused, he told police that the driver began to step out of the vehicle. At that point, the child ran away.

Tallent says police have no description of the driver, citing the child's report that the vehicle's windows were tinted and only slightly open. He did say that police are looking for a vehicle that matches the would-be victim's description.

Anyone with information about this case is being urged to contact the Hope Police Department at 546-4015.
