The Columbus Police Department is warning people to be alert after a rash of thefts of catalytic converters.

The police department has received multiple reports of catalytic converters being stolen off of vehicles, said Lt. Matt Myers, spokesman for the department. The thefts have centered around businesses located in and around the airport area north of town, Myers said. Some businesses in the area have been hit repeatedly

CPD has also received multiple reports over the past two months of thefts of air conditioner units.

Police are asking that people pay extra close attention to their surroundings and report suspicious activity to police.  You can make a report by calling 376-2600 or 379-1689.
