Whiteland man faces domestic violence charge

A Johnson County man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he battered his wife in front of a child.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says a deputy responded to the domestic violence call in Whiteland shortly after 9 a.m. The deputy arrived at the home, located at 28 W CR 700N, in just over six minutes.

According to the police report, 31-year-old Lane C. Salts got into an argument with his wife over money. The report went on to say that Salts accused his wife of prostituting. He allegedly made that accusation in front the alleged victim's children.

After the older children left for school, the alleged victim reportedly told Salts to leave, as she was going to call the police. Salts allegedly followed the victim, who was carrying a 14-month-old baby, and pushed her in to a wall, causing her to fall.

The alleged victim suffered minor injuries. The baby was not hurt.

Salts was arrested and booked in the Johnson County Jail. He is facing a preliminary felony charge of domestic battery. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
