Program to give free school supplies to needy students underway

The Bartholomew County School Supply Assistance Program has begun. Bartholomew County families in financial need may register children entering Kindergarten through 12th grade who are enrolled in any school throughout Bartholomew County to receive free school supplies. That includes students in the Flatrock-Hawcreek School Corporation and private schools.

Registration can be done by calling United Way's 2-1-1, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spanish speaking community members can call 375-9370. Preference will be given to those who register by July 18.

Donations are also being accepted. Financial donations enable the committee to make bulk purchases. Tax-deductible cash, check or money order donations can be made payable and sent to Sans Souci, 1526 13th Street, Columbus, IN 47201. You should list "School Supplies" in the memo area. You can also donate online at www.bcssap.org. Material donations are being accepted at Sans Souci as well.
