The ColumBUS Transit System will offer a special shuttle service to the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair this year. Chris Schilling with the city's Department of Community Development, says the goal of the service is to give all residents convenient access to attend the week-long event.
The special shuttle will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and from noon until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Schilling adds that the Call-A-Bus service will be available to transport eligible riders who are unable to use the ColumBUS fixed routes to the fair shuttle, which is also accessible for all persons. He adds that those interested in using the Call-A-Bus service must schedule in advance.
“We have placed a high priority on ensuring our transit-dependent population can participate in community events,” Mayor Kristen Brown said. “The special shuttle service will provide our residents with limited income or physical challenges access to enjoy the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair.”
Schilling says the shuttle service will leave the Mill Race Station Depot at Eighth and Lindsey streets on the hour starting at 10 a.m. on July 5 and at noon on July 7 through July 11. The last shuttle leaves at 4 p.m. on July 5 and at 6 p.m. on the other days. He adds that rides back to downtown leave the fairgrounds on the half hour.
Schilling notes that the standard riding fare of 25 cents per person, per trip, applies for the fair shuttle. He adds that there will be no shuttle service on Sunday, as the ColumBUS system does not operate on Sundays. The fair shuttle also will not run on Friday, July 4, due to it being a federal holiday.
