A chip-and-seal project on a 20-mile section of State Road 46 between Columbus and Greensburg is going to start on Monday.
Flaggers will be present to direct motorists around moving worksites on the east-west highway between State Road 7 and State Road 3, according to an announcement by the Indiana Department of Transportation.
INDOT will be working in the westbound lane on Monday—starting at Hartsville, crossing State Road 9 and ending at State Road 7. The eastbound lanes will be worked on starting Wednesday.
The work should be done by Thursday, weather permitting. But during the week of July 14th, crews will be back to apply a coating to the road that will protect the road from moisture and the sun.
During chip-and-sealing, workers apply liquid asphalt and limestone chips to extend the life of the road and to improve traction.
