Women arrested after shovel attack on vehicle

Columbus police arrested a woman last night on drug charges after she allegedly got into a dispute at her parent's home and smacked a car with a shovel.

Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the police department, says that police were called to a home in the 3700 block of Ironwood Drive after 42-year-old Lucinda Valentine kicked open the door to her father's residence and began striking his vehicle with a shovel. When police arrived Valentine allegedly began yelling at officers and other area residents.

She was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

When officers searched her purse before taking her to jail, they discovered a glass smoking device and prescription drugs that she was not prescribed. That led to preliminary felony charges of possession of a legend drug and a legend drug smoking device and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
