Two people were arrested in Columbus last night after a traffic stop allegedly turned up drugs in the vehicle.
Sgt. Matt Harris, spokesman for the Columbus Police Department, said that Officer Marc Hutcheson stopped a vehicle on Second Street at about 11 p.m. because it had no working taillights. During questioning, police determined that the driver was lying about his identity.
Officer Branch Schrader and his police dog, Argo, were called to the scene and located a purse that allegedly contained nine syringes, one of which tested positive for methamphetamine.
The driver, 40-year-old Joshua Caudill of Seymour, was arrested on a charge of false informing and for a parole warrant. The passenger, 34-year-old Peggy D. Cook of Columbus, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia.
