Kris Medic has been named interim county extension director for the Purdue Cooperative Extension office.
That's according to our news-gathering partners at the Hope Star Journal. Medic has served most recently as the extension educator for agriculture, Natural Resources, and Economic & Community Development.
Medic assumes the role recently vacated by Erika Bonnett, former 4-H youth development extension educator and county extension director. Bonnett was named director following Mike Ferree's retirement in 2012. Ferree had served in the role for over 12 years.
“I am happy to step in. Since Erica was promoted to campus, there was a need for leadership in the office until a county extension director can be named,” stated Medic. “Erica set a remarkable example and grew the program. We are hoping for a well-qualified person to step into that (4-H) position.”
The decision to name an interim county extension director is made by the district director from Purdue’s extension program.
Medic will continue to serve in her original role as the extension educator over agriculture, natural resources, and economic & community development, in addition to assuming the responsibilities as CED. “In all counties, the CED is responsible for at least one if not two other program areas,” Medic noted.
