Heritage Fund announces Lilly gift

The Heritage Fund - The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County announced on Wednesday that all gifts made to the foundation's Community Fund will be matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis by the Lilly Endowment.   

Heritage Fund President Trace Souza says that the Lilly Endowment announced GIFT (Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow) VI , an initiative to strengthen and grow the community foundation structure across Indiana. Souza says that over the past 25 years, the five previous GIFT programs plus other programs such as CAPE (Community Alliances to Promote Education), the Lilly Community Scholarship Program, Taking Stock and Sustaining Resource Development and the Lilly Intern program, have helped to build a strong network of 94 community foundations covering all of Indiana's 92 counties.

Beginning August 1, any donation made to the Unrestricted /Community Fund will be matched up to a limit determined by county population size. Souza says that for Heritage Fund, the maximum match from Lilly Endowment is $1 million. Foundations have until March 31, 2016, to seek donations that are eligible for the matching funds.
