Columbus Police arrest two on meth charges

Two men were arrested Saturday on drug charges.

Columbus Police Department (CPD) Spokesman Sgt. Matt Harris says that at approximately 3:36 p.m., Columbus Police Officers from the C.O.P.P.S. (Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving) Unit were conducting an extra patrol in the area of 11th Street and Washington Street due to complaints of criminal activity. Officer Troy Love conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the area, while Officer John Searle and his canine partner, Max, assisted him. During the traffic stop, Officer Searle advised that Max alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Harris says that white powder that later tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as some miscellaneous pills, were located inside the vehicle.

The driver, 26-year-old Afton D. Davis, of Nineveh, was arrested on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Schedule IV Drug. Davis' passenger, 23-year-old Devin C. Kinman, of Columbus, was arrested on a preliminary charge of Possession of Methamphetamine. Both men were booked in the Bartholomew County Jail.
